Electronic Lockers - A Short History of Lockers

A brief history of Electronic Lockers: Lockers were initially invented to serve the purpose of protecting valuables from fire, theft, insects and destructive chemicals. They are usually made of fireproof and durable materials like steel coated with powder to prevent corrosion. Through the years, they evolved together with the technology available to men. Common lockers were initially made of a steel body with padlock and key. Today, there are varieties to choose from, whether for industrial or for household use - electronic lockers and safes, wardrobe lockers, floor lockers, touch screen safety lockers, digital electronic safety lockers, wall mounting lockers, double door safe, dual lock system, biometric locking system, twin safety lockers and more. Although there are dozens of ways to call them, we can categorize them in the way they keep our things safe: how they are locked - electronically, mechanically, or both.

Locking Systems:

Electronic Locking system: This kind of locker and safe system uses the latest technology like digital code number keys, biometric keys, electronic card keys or the combination of two or more electronic keys. These are the most convenient and user-friendly lockers, which are commonly found in public places like parks, airports, schools, factories, universities and more.

Mechanical Locking system: The pioneers of the locker industry first used metal padlock-and-key system, the most rudimentary way of keeping our things safe in the modern times. This later on evolved in a number combination lock system where the owner has to contend to one lock-combination made by the manufacturer.

Dual Locking System: Dual locking system is a combination or a hybrid of both mechanical and electronic locks. It employs digital lock combination, a biometric identification, an electronic key card paired with mechanical combination and/or a master key. This locking system may be the safest of the three.
